Real Time 3D preview on External Monitor? (Any input will be appreciated)

Hey Fellas' (Question, "Real Time Preview" on external (2D) monitor on set)

With Matrox MC-100, we can feed two cameras via SDI and have one HDMI out for Real time preview on external monitor. However Matrox MC-100 is very hard to find now.

I never used AJA Hi5-3D, can any AJA user confirm if we can feed two SDI and have one out for Real Time preview without using any computer?


Also, what other/Updated (cheapest) option do we have for Real time preview on set (since Matrox and AJA both 3D Multiplexer are over 5+ years old? (lol)

Any input will be appreciated.

Hullo Kwan,

Yes AJA HI5-3D can mux L+R SDI feeds without a computer. It has a dipswitch on the back to switch from SbS or anaglyph (latter handy for 2D screens). You can also flip one feed for when using a bleamsplitter.
It won't do 1080 50p though, only up to 30p /60i.

I think maybe some blackmagic gear will do this too like an atem / 2 channel ultrastudio etc.

PS the aja has both 3d mux'd sdi output & 3d mux'd hdmi output.
