Hey guys, we recently shot for a whole week. I've been using Red Rushes to transcode all the footage we got, converting the rd3 files into regular mov files for editing on FCP. However, almost all of the footage in one of the files from DAY 1 won't transcode. When I try to open the mov file, I get this message, " This file is not a movie file." These files are made up of mostly long takes of footage that required 3-4 rd3 files per take. And for some reason, 80% of these takes just won't process. Not in red alert or redcine either. I'm currently importing F-proxy files into fcp, so I can just export them out as mov files I can edit with, but it won't have the same quality as the native rd3's. What should I do? I'm assuming those particular files are corrupt for some reason. Should I just accept it and just use the proxy files? Or is there another way I haven't thought of yet? Thanks in advance.

If your camera is on firmware build above 21, then you should be using Redcine-X build 262 or above (note that's X and not just the older Redcine) to transcode and not Red Alert or Red Rushes which are no longer supported for any camera firmware above 21.

I recently discovered that RCX has trouble if many long R3Ds are in the same folder. I wouldnget load errors and some viable clips appeared to not be viable.

When I separated them into different folders, so RCX could only see a few at a time, they all worked great.

Thanks! I'll try both of those suggestions. How would you break up the files? Don't they need to be close...?

It worked! Breaking up the files and transcoding them separately definitely worked. Thanks
