I just wanted to give my thanks to RED Support and let you new to RED know a great experience I had today. I called for a very simple reason as I received my RED Station 1.8 and Red SSD Redmag in the mail and I just wanted to check on something as simple as if the drive should be formatted on the computer before using in camera. I couldn't find the answer on the site and there were no instructions for the drive. There are instructions on the RED Station but it didn't go over formatting.
I actually didn't expect to get someone so fast, but when I called support, someone picked up immediately to answer my question. The gentleman was new so also double checked it and transferred me to another rep who quickly answered it too. Anyhow, they were available and ready and willing to help in anyway even for such a simple question. This just made me pumped to know if I had an issue on set or anything that comes up there is a staff ready to answer and take the call.
When I looked into buying an Alexa, it took 4 days before a sales rep even called me back and that was to sell the camera. Very excited to have this experience already so I just wanted to share that for anyone in doubt.
BTW, if anyone needs to know what they mentioned for the newbies like me: The answer was that the drive comes unformatted and if you need to use before you format in camera, the best way to format is using FAT 32 in disk utility.
