Brand new Komodo with official Canon BP batteries. I installed one battery that was pretty low in the unit and when I turned the camera on the boot process just stalled and the final screen never came up. When I tried to turn the unit off the red light just stayed on. I put a second battery with more juice in and it shut down properly and normal restart with a different battery with more juice. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks

Yes or at least I've seen something similar when the camera shuts down with a low battery then immediately tries to reboot
because the power switch is still engaged.

Sometimes you have to turn the power switch off and remove the batteries from the camera and then reconnect with fresh batteries (or with some juice in them) and switch the Komodo back on to get things proper again.

Thanks, Brian. It occurred to me to remove the battery but I was nervous about cutting power to the Komodo even though the horror stories involve SDI…

Yes I can see the hesitation in that though that 12G SDI issue is specific to that connector. I’ve heard of Arri’s with 12G SDI getting blown ports as well.

RED might consider building something in the firmware to keep the camera off if it shutdown in a state where the battery voltage is low even with the power button on.
