Here are some positive things that Michael from Plastercity had to say about RED..

Michael Cioni
Digital Intermediate Supervisor
PlasterCITY Digital Post, L.L.C.

#1
From a post perspective, RED is the only digital cinema camera that provides a 4K tapeless end-to-end solution without the need to process files for offline editorial.
#2
Unlike alternative high-end acquisition tools, RED is the only tool that easily affords users the flexibility to choose custom finishing paths from HD tape through 4K DI.
#3
With RED's "R3D" file structure, 4K dailies archiving has dropped from 40 terabytes to 4!
#4
RED's Quicktime based data-centric workflow is the best example of coupling cost effective HD finishing with the ability to later conform a 2K or 4K master.
#5
RED is the only acquisition tool that allows for both independent film desktop finishing or studio Digital Intermediate mastering from one original 4K file source.
#6
Because R3D 4K files are Quicktime aware, RED provides the only render free offline solution for start-to-finish post production.
#7
RED's out-of-the-box thinking has hands-down created the most streamlined Digital Intermediate workflow we've ever experienced.
#8
RED has empowered the independent filmmaker to match levels of image quality only previously affordable to studio filmmaking budgets.
#9
RED's render-free QuickTime edit workflow has essentially simplified the post process for any project, nevermind the fact it is 4K!

The significance of the workflow is something that really bears repeating. Even if Red wasn't 4K and didn't have a 35mm-sized sensor, the tapeless compressed RAW workflow would still make it game-changing.
