Hello,
I will soon receive my SW, I would like to be able to calibrate under DaVinci Resolve R3D files.
What should I change? The graphics card especially I think no?

Here is my current configuration:
Power : ATX 500W
Samsung SSD Serie 840 Pro - 128 Go For the windows system and softwares.
Several 1TO 7200tr/min DD in eSata dock
Microsoft Windows 7 Familial Premium 64 bits
Asus Z87-K Intel Z87
Intel Core i5 4670K Socket 1155 3,40GHz 6Mo
2X RAM Corsair 4Go Mo PC12800
Asus GeForce GT 730 - 2 Go (DDR3) 902 MHz

Someone advised me to change the graphics card by an nvidia gtx 1080 and take an SSD 1TO more.
What do you think ?

Thank.

Excuse me, I am french I do not understand very well the terms you use.
What configuration will you think to be able to calmly calibrate the 5K RAW?

Thank !

REPLACE a single 1080Ti can draw as much as 300-450W especially if water-cooled / overclocked. CPU will want 120-150W. I'd recommend 850-1050 or higher.

Samsung SSD Serie 840 Pro - 128
KEEP but consider a faster m.2 NVME SSD (PCIe based) for boot/apps, and use this disk as a cache for HDDs.

Several 1TO 7200tr/min DD in eSata dock
REPLACE get a Thunderbolt or USB-C or 10Gb Ethernet or Fiber Channel RAID - I doubt you can playback 5k footage from a HDD, even at 6:1 its just under 160MB/s. Alternately, on a budget, if the 1TB disks are identical setup an internal SATA RAID off your motherboard

Microsoft Windows 7 Familial Premium 64 bits
DEPENDS If your apps only work on 7, keep. I'm rather fond of 10 though

Asus Z87-K Intel Z87
Intel Core i5 4670K Socket 1155 3,40GHz 6Mo
2X RAM Corsair 4Go Mo PC12800
REPLACE Bare minimum a Z270 based board with a 7700K, preferably an X99 based board with a 6850K. Minimum 32GB of RAM, suggest 64-128. I'm fond of G.Skill - super fast, stable, good price

Asus GeForce GT 730 - 2 Go (DDR3) 902 MHz
REPLACE These would make a nice paperweight. A single 1080Ti would be a good starting point. YMMV depending on application, whether you need >1 GPU, a RedRocket, etc.

Sorry, but you're basically looking at an all new system to play back 4k or 5k.
