Yes, I am the author of the controversial post "Offended" and I took a lot of crap from RED fan boys at the time, with only a few people agreeing with me.

The big issue to me was the fixed lens Scarlet that had been announced at the time.

I am very happy to hear that RED has stuck to what I believe has always been their brand DNA.
And that is in one word: Freedom.

Freedom to shoot with the lenses you want, freedom to shoot at a variety of frame rates (up to 120 fps!) and freedom to do virtually anything in the DI suite (or an Apple Color/DaVinci Lite-equipped Macbook...). This Scarlet has liberated a lot of filmmakers, giving us options like never before.

I'm also very happy to inform that I am placing a deposit for a brand new Scarlet-X!

With the announcements of November 3rd, it became clear that RED is still epic (pun intended) in their camera releases.
I'm excited about the Canon C300 but I don't think it compares to the Scarlet because of the output restrictions, more specifically: 1080p at 4:2:2 50mbps = No Freedom. And at a higher price!

I hope all of you who were OFFENDED with my initial posting are also happy with what this new Scarlet means for all of us.

Thank you RED team for listening!

No one should ever get mad at you for your own opinions. Congrats on buying scarlet X enjoy.

Congrats on your pending purchase and getting what you want. But, to be clear, it wasn't your OPINION that people had a hard time with - it was the act of belittling those that held a different one; i.e. that there was a great spot in the market for what was the Scarlet 3K rez, 8X Fixed. And, in the process, being OFFENDED that we would want such a thing.

I, too, have a deposit on a Scarlet but that doesn't change my OPINION (and a very valid one, I believe) that the Fixed version would have been a fabulous camera.
