Mysterium-X, Monstro in new RED ONE?

I was just wondering if there will be an option (at cost) to have new RED ONE come with new sensor? I have delivery late this year/early next year and if there's new sensor just around the corner maybe that could be installed before shipment?

I sincerely doubt the X sensor will be ready by then. Plus it is more than just the sensor that needs to get swapped.

I think that the issue being raised for those receiving their cameras near the end of the year is whether it would be better to wait a month or so to have the upgrade installed rather than being put in the position of having to ship it back within a short period of receiving it. Of course this is predicated on the assumption that the new sensor and upgrade path will be available in January which is pretty much speculation.

My position is not to worry about it because I am sure that Red will give this some thought. Normally, they announce upgrade/other programmes in advance to give people a chance to make sensible arrangements.

After the release of Epic, we will offer a sensor upgrade to the RED ONE. More dynamic range with the same specs. New Mysterium X sensor. Should be middle of 2009.

My calm and sage advice really masked frenzied uncertainty.

My number is in the mid 4000s but I am having a Red Fix as I am very close to actually renting a Red for a shoot over the next three months. How's that?? Being able to actually test it extensively before I get mine!

If it's closer to mid 2009, I'll just ship it over then. I was just wondering of how close in time the new sensor are, and if people (like me) are willing to pay extra to have the new sensor installed right away this could save time in the manufacturing process
