I'm checking but I can't find anything missing (maybe a couple transitions)? Keyframing and everything came over. There might be an issue with the "proxy" versions going off-line but other than that I'm not seeing anything. Need more detailed inspection but I'm shocked at the accuracy and amount of info that came over. I'll keep you posted.

Here is one bug I found translating from FCP 7 to FCP X -
I had a DVCPRO 720 24p project that I took from FCP7 to FCP X
I had a 1080p background graphic at the head of the show.
It made all the 720p files 1080p size....
The files before the 1080p file were normal size. the ones after were 1080p size.
I went back to the FCP 7 project, removed the 1080p files and re-exported the XML file.
This time everything was back to normal in FCP X.....

Starting a project from scratch in FCP X was easy.
So far I will probably use FCP 7 and FCP X side by side.
There are still a lot of weird things about FCP X I don't like.

Andrew youve got huge...

please dont forget to update as time goes on on how your 7 to X process goes for this project
your input will be very useful for the future as I feel FCP X has a bight future. Just dont know when we will get there.

thanks

Thanks BigLu for the feedback. I will most certainly keep this updated. So far it looks like red markers have been placed to let me know exactly what didn't come over exactly (i.e. motion blur, etc.) Anyway, yes I am very optimistic and excited by the potential.

I had the same problem. Converted a 60min film and about 5 clips were sized incorrectly. I fixed it by resetting the metadata on those clips. Everything else worked great.

Basically - I made sure everything was connected in the original FCP 7 file. If anything was off-line I re-linked. The project file was my final 2k version sent back from COLOR. After all was good... I exported the XML. Opened the FCP 7 to FCP X app and "opened" my exported XML. It took less than 10 mins for the app to interpolate the XML of my 90 minute timeline. All edits, and color grade footage was there! It (the app) puts red markers where it thinks information did not come through. Mostly, these showed up in transitions (crossfades, dip to color etc.) but the transitional behaviors were still in tact. There were some other ancillary warnings/markers that didn't make since like "motion blur" (which was not used) in certain clips. I really didn't care because the edit, look and footage were still there! I tried the same process with CatDV with VERY poor results. So, hats off to Phillip Hodges and his team... they did an incredible job!
