These are all questions relating to Scarlet that I have been unable to find the answers to. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.

1. A) Has there been any recent updates regarding the launch of the Mini Red Primes?
B) Will this be addressed on Nov 30th?
C) Has there ever been any price estimates in relation to these lenses?
D) Was it ever implied that their launch would coincide with the Scarlet launch?

2. Will the Red Pro Primes ever be sold separately or in a smaller package of perhaps 2 or 3 so that the super indie guys can go with Red without the 20k price point?

3.(This question relates to a Tripod setup and not Run & Gun Gorilla tactics)
A) In mounting both a Red Brick and a Red Drive together would it be possible to attach dual Red Cradles to the rail system as seen on the basic production pack?
B) If no on A) could the QuickPlate be used instead of the Battery Plate?
C) Are mounting dual Cradles practical?
D) Are the Red Brick and Red Drive close enough in weight to counter balance each other?

4. Are either the bottom handle or side handle mandatory because of control integration?

5. Why exactly are the Live LCD's so expensive? For the price of a 7" LCD I can get a 52" 240 MHz model. They also seem to be way behind technically with having Response times of 30ms and a Contrast ratios of 400:1. This is not a criticism just a query into why they are so expensive and if you have an answer please get as technical as you can.

1A) No info since still picture of "throwing the dog a bone" picture shot with an alpha miniRED prime, i believe it was a 25mm.
1b) we don't know what all will be addressed on the 30th...it's supposed to be Scarlet-centric, but they just tacked on RedRay news to the list.
1c) no
1d) it was never stated either way, thought I believe that is their goal.

2) yes, it was RED's intention at the beginning to sell RPP's individually but only after there was no longer a waiting period.

3) I don't quite understand what you are talking about. (I do know that all this will work with the EPIC/Scarlet line-ups, but the modularity will make things very interesting in terms of setups n' what not.)

4) Bottom handle is only usable if you have a side handle. and only then if you want to shoot stills (or portrait video). And no, its not mandatory, the REDmote can also control the camera.
However, Jarred did say at one point that all you need to shoot with the fixed Scarlet is power/storage/viewfinder...nothing about a handle or 'mote (however there was talk awhile back about having a "REDmote" come fixed onto the back of the camera (fixed scarlet) but I dunno how that would work with all the modularity stuff).

5) Great question, if you are talking about the current RED lcd then I'll leave it to a more capable person to answer, but I can venture that the new LCD's having "touch-focus" will certainly drive up prices.

Hope this helps!

Hi Benjamin, on 1.b I think it is likely we will get an update on the miniRED primes on the 30th. RED hasn't said specifically if they will mention prices or availability. It is a "no" to the rest of the 1.0 questions.

2. If I remember correctly RED said they would start selling RPPs separately once they had fulfilled all orders for full sets.

3. Not sure what you are referring to with "dual RED cradles". Scarlet has a new set of modules and the RED cradle, RED drive, etc. that are currently in the RED store are for the RED One camera and not the DSMC system. Although most of these will be compatible with the DSMC system they will not be ideal.

4. The DSMC bottom handle and side handle will not be mandatory for running the cameras. The brains have a start/stop button on them.

5. If you are talking about the DSMC LCDs they are touchscreen models that allow you to control focus on electronic lenses. Specs for those haven't been announced so I assume you are talking about the RED One LCDs. Small high resolution LCDs are often more expensive then larger ones. These LCDs are for mounting on the camera.

4. The DSMC bottom handle and side handle will not be mandatory for running the cameras. The brains have a start/stop button on them.

Note that the side handle contains a battery though, so if you don't want to use it you will either need a battery module ($1250 with two batteries + $300 for module adaptor), or an AC cable (which costs about $130 for the RED ONE so it should be similar for Scarlet). Or you could get a battery plate and third party batteries.

Also, since the side handle has controls on it, you would probably need the REDMOTE to change camera settings if you didn't have the handle.

Thanks for the input, it has clarified a lot.

3. I was referring to the price of the current LCD's which I don't believe are touch sensitive. You can get a 7" LCD for a car for $99, why are these $2400 more than that? You can get the Sony 11" XEL-1 OLED for $2499.

5. I would assume that both the RED Drive and the current RED Batteries will be compatible with Scarlet. I was just wondering if two RED Cradles could be attached to the Basic Production Pack at the same time. So if two RED Cradles can be attached to the RED One that essentially answers my question.

If used together this would allow for at least three hours of consecutive use, which would be ideal for stationary tripod shots where the RED Ram would be still. This could be used for long exposures and time lapse shots.
