  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Motor control rig

Eugene,

I use the the emotimo TB3 for my SLR cameras and have put my epic on there in its most light weight config with light weight lens. It is pushing it for sure, but it work if its not too windy. Here is a link for more info: http://store.emotimo.com/tb3-black-p2.aspx

You might want to consider getting dynamic perceptions new Stage R: https://vimeo.com/93078265
If I were you I would modify a tb3 black to control the stage R with with the stepper motors that emotimo sells. They are far more precise then DC motors allowing for repeatable moves. And controlling motion controlled setups with the TB3 is a dream compared to DP option. If you want more info on how this is accomplished let me know.

Other then that you can step it up another notch in weight, carrying capacity, and price and go with the Kessler cinedrive (i would say its a slight downgrade in ease of use compared to the TB3 scenario just from videos I have seen) : http://kesslercinedrive.com
Ditto gear has another option: http://ditogear.com/products/omnihead/
And if you have a lot of extra cash in you pocket I would go with cam blocks new setup: http://www.camblock.com/shop/adventure/

Other then that I just got one of these badass little pan devices: http://orderastro.com
I think it would have no problem driving a pan on the scarlet but would most likely struggle with a tilt. Its a really light weight and awesome option for panning time lapses.

Hope that help,
Danny.

Thanks for the links! I'll check them out.

No problem! I forgot to suggest that whatever system you go with spend the extra $ to get a kessler ion battery. I have tried so many batteries and everything else does not compare, it truly is worth the money: http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/ion_battery.htm

Nothing sucks worse then spending the time to get to location, setup a shot, get it all dialed in, then have the battery powering the system die half way though the shot.
