  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

More Dragon Samples with R3D stills ...

Played around with some more extreme crops too. I thought some of these looked like they could be pictures of illustrations out of a book.

Thanks again for the images. I'm still just trying to figure out what these Dragon things are, so having the pictures to play with really helps.

028.Jan Reiff_Landscape.jpg is very nice, have a look on the Raw that´s more in focus, otherwise the "blurry" one has its own look ;-)

this small Church here at our studio may never thought of this honor to get so many looks ;-)

Ha ha, yeah, shot with 300mm lens, blown up from a 6K image, seen from here on the other side of the world. Who would have thought? Will check out your other pictures, thanks.

Any chance to upload RAW files?

a last sample for today, ...

MX and Dragon Side by Side

i tried to get the same with the MX - although there were no lights on it is bit clipped as you see in the scale in window , no recover possible ...

Dragon is safe, nothing clipping and even some reserves left, and richer shadows ...

in general Dragon is clearer. Don´t now about Dynamic Range Improvement. There are others that can measure it better, maybe 2, 3 stops - decide yourself. But it´s not only the stops more ...

but: today , i was suprised, how well MX looked - of course, the Dragon is a great step ahead, but MX is still a great sensor with lots of informations in Raw (i will post more examples where it is more difficult to see the differences between Dragon and the MX)
"House of cards" is the proof for it.

"but" #2: the whole impression if the Dragon image is superior - for me it looks like, that there is more information not only at the ends, but all over the image - tonal values, shades, ... the image is richer, colors are more shining, looking "more healthy"

Seems you can call me a satisfied customer.

from the MX / Dragon comparison ?

Just a couple more variations.

From the sharper church shot...

Checking out the clarity at close range...

Looking at the contrast...

And checking the clarity and contrast...

Thanks Jan.

Thank you very much for the RAW files, in deep I can see some improvement on the highlights and color is nicer, but when RED called dragon 3+ Stops over MX is adventurous, If this Worth $10,000 probably not, let wait for other people findings probably still too early.

hi Andrey, should be this one

http://we.tl/Ze8xuqNsV3

let us know what you think / grade ;-)

for highlights you can say: a f11 at MX to avoid clipping is f8 at Dragon, that was on every shot at the weekend.
i will post some more stuff with complete open stop where you can see what Dragon keeps: and : the roll off is nicer with Dragon
in shadows the image is better in color and finer noise -
for me, the better colors (especially when underexposed) and roll offs are more worth the "10 000" Dollar than 1-2 stops more, ...
