Monitor Control For Epic-W with SmallHD 702

hi guys. just got my epic-w and first time using my smallHD 702 Bright with a red.
So two questions:
1. is there any way to use the control on the smallHD monitor to cycle through and select things within the red menus? ie. iso, change menu settings, etc. or is the smallHD control ONLY for the monitor itself? Thus, everything needs to be controlled from my sidekick?

2. Not sure i'm loving my sidekick as opposed to getting the side handle which is what i had on my dragon. But i'm concerned, without the sidekick and it's visual display, will i be able to SEE the controls on the smallHD if i'm only using the sidekick? Reason i'm asking is, upon first plug in, i had to set the sidekick to the SDI output before seeing anything on my smallhd. If i couldn't see on the sidekick, what would i have done? I do have another epic-w coming in and don't want to lose functionality to my monitor

Anyone experienced with this combo?

There is a preset file available in the red support/download/other/toolkit page, that can display menu on any output when it's not set yet. You just have to copy it to your media.
This is the kind of files I had on my phone, just in case. Once priority is change, it won't change until next firmware upgrade though.

It was all before foolcontrol. Foolcontrol is your best friend, just keep you wifi on your camera on.

I use the 502 with my Raven and Epic-W in an underwater housing. Control is only via the Sidekick. The monitor's buttons only control that of the monitor and there is no link to the RED menus. Having said that, I do use the 502's magnify and peaking functions for checking critical focus.

All the menu overlays should show up on your 702 as they would with the RED monitors. You will just use the side handle to cycle though the menus. You also do have the option to switch to full screen without any overlays as well.
