Anyone with a red know what the minimum onset macbook pro spec is with comfortable use on redalert?

I thinking of getting the bottom dollar macbook pro from the apple store. Good enough?

red alert isn't really fast for playback, redcine or the quicktime files would be better for that. Keep in mind that the internal drive can't keep up with the data rate...

I can usually (not always) get real-time playback of 1K proxies from the internal 5400 RPM drive on my MacBook Pro. The drive benchmarks at around 35 MB/s for sequential reads.

Has anyone tried it with;

Macbook Pro
2.6 GHZ
4 GIG RAM
7200RPM drive

this is what I am hoping to get, but at this point may wait until the "next release" Mac does...whatever that might be?

I'm using a MacbookPro 2.4Ghz 2GB RAM 7200RPM drive notebook. Quicktime wrapper playback works ok, but RedAlert is stuttery. I'm upgrading my RAM in a few weeks, so maybe that'll change it for the better...

Oh.. and I've hooked it up to a 30" Cinema display. 4K proxies work fine.

I guess its mainly for storing/managing data dumped from the CF cards or red drive to other drives but it would be nice to click through and see files played back in realtime in the same way as the HD SDI/HDMI port out!

Ho hum, lets all wait until the next apple love in in feb...
