Lowest Profile On-Camera Shotgun?

I'm looking for the least obtrusive shotgun to ride on the camera in a shoulder mount config that will deliver something that could be described as sound.

I'm not looking for a button mic solution. I'd like something that can go right into the mini 3.5 jacks so I don't have to throw an A-box on there. Something that can cold-shoe mount would be ideal. Anyone use anything they like?

I thinks the Rode VideoMic Pro is the best sounding mic. Has it's own little pre-amp and is relatively small and light. Although I hate those weak elastics on it. Instead of the A-Box, use a small Stereo to 2Mono cable.

Any particular thing too look out for in a S > 2M cable (re wiring) or is anything I pick up at the store going to work? I know those ports are finicky about what you feed them...

I'm no expert in this field but this is the cable I have and works great.
