Hi there,
I've just taken delivery of a Komodo, my first ever RED camera! Less than a week later and it's already been sent back to CVP because the wifi doesn't work, or more accurately it rarely works! I have managed to get AdHoc and Infrastructure mode to work once or twice but each time it has not lasted long and then it's stopped working again. The MAC address is dashed out and I can neither find the camera as a wifi network, nor access any of the wifi networks around me.
I've been on with technical support and they ran through a bunch of tests with me but nothing worked. I tried rolling back the firmware, updating the firmware and tried the camera in all kinds of configurations but can find no solution.
Just before I packaged it up to return, I thought I would try it one more time and low and behold it worked! At this point it was just a bare camera body, so I thought I would build the camera package and see if it continued to work. One by one I did the following: upgraded the firmware, changed project settings to the ones I had been using previously, added media, tried alternating between powering the camera with a battery and by mains, attached a lens, recorded a clip, attached the outrigger handle, and all the while the wifi kept working. In between all these changes I kept switching it off and on to see if it would still work and it did. At this point I thought it must have been user error before!
I thought perhaps the issue had sorted itself out but then I attached the 8Sinn cage and suddenly the wifi dropped out, the MAC address disappeared like before and I could not get it back. So I thought it must be the cage that was causing the issue. I removed it piece by piece but the wifi still didn’t work and since then I have not been able to get it working again in any setup.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks
James
