Just another bug? "Audio Rec Fault" while recording

Hi,

We started a feature in China and are working on Build 17 v3.4.1. Yesterday we were shooting with one of our cameras and 30 sec after rolling the camera displays the error "Audio Rec Fault". The camera stopped recording and freezed! I had to re-boot the camera....

Take 2: After the camera was re-booted we started recording again and it displayed the same error and freezed again.

I went in playback mode to see if anything was recorded but the media couldn't be played and was corrupted. Before and afterwards we were able to record clips. Since then we have shot even longer clips (up to 10mins cont. recording).

So is this just another RED Bug on Build 17?

I had this problem and it turned out to be a audioboard hardware issue that had to be serviced by Red to be fixed. Have you reinstalled the firmware yet?

Best not to count on audio recorded to camera.. just use a a reference track.

Hi Florian,

thanks for your advice...
I reinstalled the build 17, formated the drive and let the camera rest for 24h. We were able to use Camera B for the rest of the day.

We are now shooting with Camera A&B since one week and that specific error didn't come up again.

Occationally we run into trouble while playing back the clips. The camera freezes or the screen turns green but whats new, right? That was even happening in build 16. I found a workaround for that though. If I press the fast forward button first and start to play the clip a few seconds later the screen doesn't turn green

Lets hope for a more stable upgrade on build 20... but hey, overall great pictures in China and lots of fun!
