I've lurked a lot and posted a couple of things here at RU and like many others I've been swept up in the wave of excitement around Scarlet as we approached NAB.

I use DVXb cams to shoot little things like dance recitals, plays and some weddings. Love my cams but they suffer when shown on our 57" HD box.

I know I have to go HD within another two years and thank G_d nobody's asked for delivery at that resolution. I was getting excited about the new Panny HMC150 and thinking, "that's what I'm getting next year."

All that has changed.

What Jim and the Red/Scarlet team have done is hit my sweet spot....hard.

2/3" 3k?!?!?!?!?

1-120fps (180 in burst mode?!?!?!?)

To CF cards.

Under $3000?!?!?!?!?

Seriously...UNDER $3000!!!!!!!!!! WITH a 4.8" LCD!!!!

So it has a fixed lens. Yeah, I'd like it to be a little longer zoom and somewhat faster but, "Jumpin' Jesu on Trampoline"©, this is really exciting. Besides, we have another 9-12 months of final development before they hit us with the finished product. Who knows what'll happen.

I've seen the love for Red from the developers and the users and the trust that has been built by this company. I think I'm going to trust Red to do right by Scarlet.

All I want to say to Jim and the Red/Scarlet team is...Thank you.

Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

sincerely,

MT

lots of people seem to be disappointed with scarlet. I have no idea why. I guess they are greedy, hoping for a red one for 3,000. I for one am content. Thanks RED!

100% unexpected specs if it turn out to be for only 3k. I believe most of us are happy with the spec (realistic thinking). Even so, same reaction happened when the first images from RED one came out. People bitch’n every where... For what? Red Forum almost went to a disaster at that time. The RED team is trying to earn money not give away free candy. In fact they do give us candy for a low price unheard of. To be fair, there’s a lot of constructive criticism going on, and that’s good IMO.
