I'm intrigued if anyone has experimented with the best setting for software image stabilization. One of the main issues I find is that with the shake, you still retain the blur, some geometric distortion after stabilizing which gives an unusual and unpleasant effect. I'm talking about shooting in 24 frames with a shutter speed of 48. Obviously increasing the shutter speed will increase the sharpness and reduce these effects, but does the image become less filmic and more video-ish with the higher frame rate. Is there a sweet setting for this purpose, any thoughts?

The RED epics and Dragons apparently have a gyro sensor inside. Would be nice if this data could be used to stalblize the footage in post very much like what the instagram hyperlapse app does.

I've sometimes bumped the shutter speed to 150th or so and it helps. However, there could be another factor at work here. If the shake is a fairly high frequency you could be seeing jello from the rolling shutter. I had this problem when shooting from an aircraft which introduced a high frequency vibration. I was able to technically able stabilize but the rolling shutter effect made the footage almost unusable.

Also, it may be just me, but I don't like AE Warp Stabilizer. I prefer to use the motion tracker for stabilizing.
