A vlogger I follow (Bearing) posted a video about how to get good sound. He starts with decent microphones, but this works even with cheap ones. A lot of sound recording in interiors has a lot of ambient resonance, for lack of a better term, and this method helps mitigate it or even eliminate it. Skip to 2:47 for the tutorial:

Obviously this is not news for most people, but I recall one person asking how to get cleaner sound while recording in a house (I can't find that post now, but it was about a short film). Noise reduction seems to work not only for mere hiss, but for other kinds of noise pollution as well. I tested it with a cheap headset, which has a soft hum (it's probably very poorly shielded) and it worked for that, too. If it can mostly fix output from a ratty microphone, it will do wonders for output from decent mics as well.
