Maybe I am hallucinating but is it possible that the Scarlet produces more grain when the brain temperature is higher than normal? The clips shot near the end of a long studio day seem to have more noise than usual.

Haven't run into this issue, but maybe you could compare the sensor's calibrated temp (found in System Status) to your actual sensor temp. (2nd temp. number in lower display readouts)
In other words, if you blackshaded to a certain temp, and then your sensor gets much hotter, you could be getting noise from the change. Are you seeing isolated noise in certain areas?

It's a well-known fact that a hot camera/sensor will produce more noise than a cooler one. Hence why you want the camera to come up to temp (run for 10-15 mins, low (30-35%) fan speeds before black shading. I try to black shade around 60-65ºC (camera starts to go into heat panic mode around 75ºC I believe)

It would be useful to have a visual indication from the LCD that the black shade temperature is not matching the current temperature.

Maybe in grades of color from green to red?

And, useful to know how much noise you get at different delta values from the black shade, as I inquired here:

+1 on that feedback. I live in a place with a wide variety of climates, and I too easily forget to keep my blackshade current between locations. Visual feedback on calibrated/actual sensor temp. status would be nice.

Glad to help, Thomas :) Here's some more posts you might find useful:
