Just trying to determine what works best with everyone for on-the-go processing. I like the idea of getting the retina MBP solely for the 16GB RAM and 768GB flash storage - it sounds like using the retina display setting though still has a lot of kinks. If I can do with 8GB RAM and 512GB flash storage on the High-Res display MBP, I'd be happy to go for that.

Any thoughts? Also, I'll be using it to dump/edit Scarlet footage on-the-go!

Hiya, I got the maximum version Retina, 16GB, 758GB. I also read up quite a lot before.

A short summary
- Retina looks AWESOME. Not only is it awesome but should make it a bit more fun to look at videos and photos and see if they are in focus
- 758 is needed if you are going to dump a whole 512GB on it
- I would never use a computer with less than 16GB of ram. Bear in mind I use After Effects a lot and big files in Photoshop. Still 8GB is just not good enough imho.
- There are issues with Retina but seems like Adobe will get most of their issues sorted fairly soon. Final Cut works good at least. I'm sure there will be some issues

I can of course only give a useful review after I recieve my Epic and the Retina one, but these are my thoughts so far ;)
Good luck

looking at the same thing right now....
the retina is simply the best display out there...just is....
once you have the mbp decked out with ssd, ram,...it comes out to the same as the retina....
i agree with andreas, you really need the 750gb and don't even think about anything under 16gb ram....
the only advantage might be that you can have 2 ssds but running a striped array is not really the safe thing to do when dumping cards and running system on one and media on the other probably won't be a real advantage ( and might end up being more expensive then retina in the first place...)
in the end it comes down to the retina with the 750 option, 16gb ram and at that point you might as well go with the 2.7 option because you will hate yourself if you don't....
the cheapest version might be doable if you just dump card on external usb3 ssds.....not THAT cheap either but an option....

By the way, when we ordered it we got it for £250 from Apple store. Maybe because my charming wife called. So get your gf to call and you may get the upgrade for free :D
