Does anyone know if there is a way to take gyro date from the Epic (I assume from metadata) and feed it to Mocha or Warp Stabilizer to stabilize footage and therefor skip the step of tracking visible objects?

Thanks for any 411.

Nope.

Gyro metadata is currently not even saved to the R3d.

In addition, currently metadata is only saved to for the first frame of the clip, not updated per frame.

Its surprising this is not a more requested feature given how much red cameras are used on vfx heavy projects.

Probably because nobody cares about cooke /i data, until Red supports LDS probably not much motivation for metadata features.

This is one area where the Alexa really excels.

Even if you just want lens metrics, you need a controller like the Arri UMC4, which you then have to feed timecode from a lockit and tally from the camera, big unnecessary cable mess.

Even Sony supports /i and LDS and allows metadata export from their RawViewer, although LDS support is still flakey.

Red really needs to update the R3d format to support onset metadata collection and also add LDS support.
The camera already sees the data, just record it , and give us a way to spit it out to a CSV.
