  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

grain or no grain?

I really love the way RCX's "post grain" looks, but honestly I couldn't see a difference in the clip you posted on vimeo. The downloaded version yes, but the one on vim looked pretty much the same, so if web is your intended delivery I wouldn't waste time rendering the grain or applying it to only get in the way of your delivery web compression.

Vimeo/Youtube has high - pass (median) image filters, it is kinda nature of h264 compression - almost impossible to keep any of the naturally looking grain after upload/conversion. It das work better with youtube when you uploading 4K resolution, but still kinda "filtered". My intention is not to be keen on grain as long as it goes to the streaming service. But if it mastered as uncompressed, PRO RES 444, high bit rate MPEG, BLU Ray or broadcast HD version on some networks, I vote for grain :)
