Just like the great Ferris Beuller once said... "If you have the means. I highly reccomend picking one up! It's so choice."

but on a serious note.

I had one of the first Scarlets since day one. Absolutely loved it! When RDC announced the upgrade path to an epic I jumped on it! I've had my epic for about 2 months now and I truely do not think I could ever go back! Shooting at 5k is such a difference in DoF and it just seems like such a cleaner image on final output. Even shooting at 4k 24fps... The camera just seems so much cleaner! I have gained so many new clients in these past two months all requesting epic. Almost all of the jobs I wouldn't get away with shooting on a Scarlet. If it keeps up ill probably buy a second one. The ability of doing whatever frame rate I want at really any resolution is amazing!

And on the lighter note... The black body looks so much more badass! Haha

thanks Red!

Ian that is evil ;)

Have to fight the urge to press button :P

All kidding aside, is it really that much better in image quality at same e.g. 4K@23.976...

What about lenses, did you go from Canon mount to PL?

Please tell me more ;)

Like to point to out that Scarlet Dragon will offer all the benefits of the current Epic , except extended frame rates but with more DR blah, blah , blah.

So no matter which way you jump you are covered.

True. But not the wider FOV. Other than that, I agree.

I own both PL and Canon... Usually just use Canon but I swear at 4k 23.98 it's a far better image... I just have never gotten the images out of my Scarlet that I do on Epic!

Curious why you went with Epic over a Scarlet Dragon, since you'll be hitting 5K either way?

I really don't like bursting anyone's bubble, but I own an Epic and a Scarlet, and I have done quite a few 3 camera shoots with 2 Scarlets and an Epic, and at 4K, 24fps, they look exactly the same. Really indistinguishable...
not to say that the Epic doesn't have many advantages over the Scarlet, but they do share the same heart and brain. The Epic is just a little smarter :)

@ Daniel ..you're so right intercut the 2 cams together regularly cant tell ....must be a placebo response ; ) !
