Up for auction is a Birger Engineering Canon EF/EOS Smart Mount manufactured for the Red ONE Digital Cinema Camera. This mount underwent a complete re-build by Birger Engineering with a new pin array and new circuit board in January 2012-- less than 3 weeks ago. Mount is in absolutely Mint Condition. Full documentation of this mount's history can be furnished upon request.

I have used numerous Canon EF/EOS lenses on this mount, including the EOS EF-S such as the Canon 10-22, and all have performed flawlessly.

The Canon EOS Birger Mount is basically a 'smart' mount that attaches to the front of the RED One after removing the PL mount. This is an easy 10 minute process and what this enables you to do is utilize virtually any Canon EOS compatible lens on your RED One. Since the apertures on EOS lenses are controlled electronically in 1/4 stop increments by the mount, a 'dumb' version that simply physically attaches the lenses to the camera wouldn't be of much use.

Examples of footage captured with the Birger/Red ONE combo can be seen here: http://vimeo.com/33643688

Shipping in the United States is set at a Flat Rate of $14.95. Shipping costs outside the US with vary.

Here's the usual warning caveat - if your Red One/MX camera is still in warranty or still part of the Stage 2, 3/3.5 Epic-X programme, installing this will void your warranty and your eligibility for those Stages.

If your camera is no longer in warranty/in the Stages, then installation isn't complicated, but it is critical not to pinch/short out the little i/data wire harness behind the PL mount, or an expensive camera repair may be needed.

It is however, a great way to use Canon EOS fit lenses on the Red One/MX!
