  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Filming sport, fast bikes and cars. Whats your project settings? 48fps or 24?

Im curios what is the most common way to do this type of work. Since alot of work should go out on the webb I like to keep the project settings to 25p. But shooting some takes at 48fps (for slowmo) will not record the sound since its "varyspeed". Im thinking its better to use the 48fps timebase for those shots. You can always use the 48fps for slowmo later anyway. Perhaps the 4k 30fps is a good option in the middle. I think 25fps can little to slow for say, fast bikes. Im still hoping to se the 50fps for us in pal land.

I always set my timebase to 23.976. Depending on the shot I want and if I want to use more of my sensor I usually will shoot 4K 30fps, on a 23.976 timebase unless I need audio. Slight overcrank. If I want to shoot something slower, or have the option to Twixtor the file, i'll create a 48fps timebase and shoot at 3K 48 from time to time to be able to get of a boost in slowing it down even further in Twixtor if it works. Most the time I still will keep my timebase at 24 and let the camera do all the work.

I've done this shooting multiple sports and still am always happy with the footage. I'd love for it to be just a tad bit slower, but the world aint perfect. Hope you get your 50fps as well!

I do it the same way accept I use the 25p timebase and for some shots I go down to 3k to overcrank. But If we get the 50p I will definitely go for a full 50p project next time its a race. I do like the 50p motion alot more for faster stuff like racing, and looking forward to se the hobbit in 48fps!
