After all the excitement that the surface pro 2 can unload a 64gb redmag in just over 8 minutes I found a disapointment in another area...

It takes it 6hours and 40minutes to export a 27minute video from premiere!!

Its not even R3D!! I had already converted them to prores hq for editing so im exporting a prores edit to quicktime h264.. and it needs 6.40 hours... wtf????

It also says 1.40hrs battery life and its fully charged.. (I guess the rendering is too much for it..)
Anyone else experiencing weird workflow time from their surface pro 2??
Perhaps I was sold a false surface pro?

Because it can also only play a 4k r3d at 1/8 and everyone says it can play 6k dragon r3ds?!

Why am I not surprised?

Try exporting to another format and see if the render time/estimate is the same.

Hi Jorge...

read a few of the surface reports.
I never saw a claim that it could play dragon6k "at full debayer"

1/8 is a bit low, though... Compared to what the hype implied. I would have thought it could handle 1/4...

Well yes its 1/4 that people said they could play.. an i5 is an i5 tablet or laptop...

I am actually surprised! I can't believe it goes that fast!

An i5 is not always an i5 when there are considerations like available power, bus speeds etc. The chip may be identical - Or not as there are often all sorts of revisions for different manufactures - but that doesn't mean the rest of the machine doesn't matter.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the battery continued to discharge even when plugged into the wall as the render progresses.

Benchmarks seem to indicate good performance for an i5 mobile... but I'd not select an i5 mobile for any heavy lifting.
