Hey guys,

I have used my camera for a while now and looking to give it a checkup myself.
I now it would be best to send it in but can't afford being wthut a camera for a few days at this point - thankfully too booked up.
So I was wondering if any of you have a few tips and tricks to give it a thourough cleaning/checkup?
Especilly interested if there is a way to take a look at the coling system (fans, etc). I did blow it out with canned air but was hoping toopen it up and see if thee is anything stuck in there the air did not get out. My cam keeps running hot even in normal conditions.

Thankful for any advice

Hi Simeon, I've been doing fan cleaning routine with my DSMC2 Scarlet-W myself, carefully took off the intake fan top cover and get rid of the thick dust. There is wifi antenna cable beneath the cover so be extra careful. We can't remove the fans but it can be lifted a bit as long as the cable allows to access the hard to reach heat sinks.

My 2¢: Any time I work on a RED DSMC1 or DSMC2, I put a big strip of gaffer's tape across the fan intakes -- to keep small screws from bouncing inwards. If the screw
gets wedged in the heat sink fins, it can be REALLY CHALLENGING to get it dislodged. OK, if thinking about taking the fan cover off -- I'd suggest thinking twice. This
is a perfect opportunity for one of the fan screws to do a deep dive into the cooling recesses (lodging in the heat sink fins & possibly burrowing further).

You might try an air compressor (with an air filter, if possible) to blow out the cooling areas -- careful not to blow any delicate items apart, but this avoids the possibility
of canned air spitting liquid propellant.

Paranoidly yours,
Serge
