"DSLR-killer...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

... RED has a more advanced view of the future. We look forward to rapidly pushing the "big guys" along in feature sets and capabilities."

That's RED. Yeah!

"... more system flexibility, ..."

You mean a fixed lens or a mini mount?

"... RED firmly believes in higher resolution..."

You mean higher resolution but a smaller sensor than the MarkII? -

Everything in life changes? Well great. Cause some count on you! :cold:

If everything in life changes than how about changing by adding a 3k@120fps for under$3.5k

Fill in the gap between $2.5k and $7k

From the announcement.
"Sensor sizes begin at 2/3" and go all the way up to an "I don't believe my eyes" 6x17cm and, as Mysterium technology advances, both Scarlet and EPIC can upgraded simply by purchasing a new brain. Not a whole camera."

A catch - lenses from 2/3" (entry level) couldn't be used with the same result on the 35mm. I am not worried about the larger format 617 and 645 because if you are filthy rich enough to afford those than you can pay for more lenses. The aforementioned suggestion s35 3k/120fps for less than $3.5k would remedy this. Higher res 2/3" will come in time I am sure so there will be a upgrade path there. But without this there isn't any entry level 35mm model.

"DSLR-Killing" starts! with depth of field

"DSLR-Killing" starts! with depth of field

I could not agree more, Zach.

However I do not so much care about 3 between x K and I get the feeling many more see it the same way.
I care much more about depth of field. And the 5D MarkII has awesome depth of field as seen in the REVERIE footage. The compression s**** but they are only experimenting with the 5D MarkII as Canon says. Well they are pushing back for sure.

AGAIN a DSLR-Killer or a 5D MarkII-Killer as of today is offering the same depth of field or sensor size (no matter how much more resolution you are offering on top) for at least the same price as the DSLR - or cheaper! Not even mentioning the canon mount - talking "flexibility".

Otherwise go ahead and call it DSLR-Competing but do not fool yourself to be a killer! RED was the one who started talking about "killing". You woke the big guys up (a billion thanks!) and now I am sure competing will be hard enough. :innocent:
