  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Excellent question.

White balance and coloring in general for lava seems to break the laws of physics; you just have to do it in post by eye and by God. This is where we are most grateful for raw :-)

So, simple answer, you tweak it until it looks right. To the eye, in real time, it's a vivid orange with a tinge of red as the basic shade; you remember that and work for it. A grade somewhere between 'geronimo' and 'money shot' on the previous page would be about right. This ain't skin tones, baby...

(oh and if anyone is less than impressed with sharpness, remember how much much shit, toxic gas, and heat distortion of the atmosphere we're shooting through here...)

That's bad and wrong.

I don't know what's broken; I'm posting and viewing using Safari on OSX and I'm not having a problem at all. They're not strangely linked, they're uploaded direct to my album and quoted in posts using the album BBcode string....
