You might recognize this from the R3D's I posted a while back. My first Dragon footage and also first shoot with the Crons.

Comments, criticism and other productive input welcome. I'm here to learn:

best played on a good high def/hifi, with open minded company and a glass of fine wine

Thanks Zeb for sharing!

Noise is pleasing, better than MX, is it native noise or was a denoise+renoise applied?

And color separation (purity) is improved, especially in low light!

Zeb,
That's some great stuff…..I love it all, but especially the candle scene…..also, awesome grading. Thanks for the test, very informative.

Thank you for sharing Zeb. Loved it, that Dragon/Leica combo is delightful.

Nice. Thanks for sharing. How did your expectations of Dragon match your reality?

+1 on the candle setup, really nice use of light and that location.

Question, was this all done in FCPX or did you grade w/ Resolve or something? I'm wondering tool(s) you used to desaturate her when she had that bright fabric in the scene.

Looked great, really sharp stuff.

I think I read it was all done in FCPX. No Resolve.

Nicely done video, Zeb! The skintones looked great! I loved the brilliant colored scarf on the B&W model.

Thanks Guys for the feedback and input!

• All done in FCPX 10.1.1 edited 6K FF R3D - no Resolve or 3rd Party plug-ins. It was a personal challenge. The workflow speed was ok on a nMP 12C for personal use. For commercial work it would need to improve.
• The Summicrons are the best Dragon lens for modern, commercial work from what I can tell. If I was to shoot this again it would be on a variety of antique vibe glass.
• The Dragon is not a low light camera. No big deal just know going in that you need to feed it light and noise is going to be there. The noise is mostly pleasing. The candle light shots were the extreme and they look good.
• Other than the opening swinging light shot, skin tones were not hard to grade. Much has been written on that shot on a different thread. Solution = power window on her face + desat then turn her purple

My biggest takeaway is: Fuckin TV sets typically have a jacked up gamma, that looks like nothing like my Flanders CM250, which makes my perfect blacks look like shit!! Oh and . . . Vimeo still sucks ;-)

Wow I loved the shots of electricity and the composite with her in the end! The colors on the tapestry are magnificent really nice variations in the blues

Skin looks nice, and so does that candle lit footage.
