Hi everyone,

I have posted this in 'bugs' forum but thought I would try here too.

A camera guy I am working with has a Dragon on this shoot and when we try and power it on, the fans whirl for 5seconds and then it shuts down. The screen doesnt even come on or anything it just shuts down.
We removed all other accessories, tried red-volt/side handle combo, different v-locks (red brick and generic) different v-lock plate. We unplugged everything from the camera, including the 7in touch, mic cables, d-taps from battery plate, everything and it still fails to power on???

Is there a bug going around?

My personal camera is also on this shoot and we can swap his out when mine is not being used but its not ideal...

Is there a secret button pressing sequence to reset the camera at startup that may help?

Thanks for your time boys and girls.

Ouch. These type of bugs are never fun.

If you haven't done it yet, I would recommend doing a factory reset by holding down the power/record button for 15-30 seconds. If that doesn't help then potentially a firmware upgrade (or downgrade) may do the trick.

Good luck!!!

Also have you tried powering on while plugged into AC power? There's a chance that whatever batteries you are using aren't providing enough power to the camera to get it off the ground.

Happened to me last week, turned out the V Lock didn't have enough Amps or whatever you call it.. I was using the LED vlocks by mistake. Check your batteries?

same thing happend to me, i used it on my gimbal and we found the problem of a bad cable!! New cable fixed it!!

We swapped out cameras as we had exhausted all available options. We were not able to reset the camera or re-install firmware because the bloody thing wouldnt even turn on.

It was funny, I had posted a comment on a different thread about carrying your camera onboard and not checking it in. This DP i am working with was checking his camera in and the director asked if he thought that was wise...

JINX!!!

You don't need to be able to turn on the camera to do a factory reset. You only need to feed the camera power.

Thats why why I suggested switching to AC power. This way you can figure out if your batteries aren't sending enough power to your camera or if your camera isn't receiving power properly.
