Hello,

I'm wondering if the first generation of Ronin is currently a good gimbal for the weight and the size of a DSMC2 (like a Gemini).
I use mine with a Nucleus M and Teradek, and I just saw a Ronin 1 for 400$CA.

In fact I'm not sure if the Ronin 1 can handle all my setup without detach/reattach some of the accessories.
Currently, I only use the Crane 3S (see photo attached), it works quiet well on simple performance, but I always need to reconfigure my accessories before mounting the RED on the gimbal.
Also, the app interface on of the Crane is a shame ...

So if someone you are still using this gimbal with your RED, I will be happy to have your opinion on the situation.

Thank you !

P.S. sorry for my english.

I remember using my Magnesium Dragon on the Ronin 1 a long time ago. The motors are powerful enough to use. But I did find better luck with lighter/slim batteries and lenses. I did strip as much off the camera that I could and mount on the top handle not on the gimbal (monitor, Teradek, etc.), and not have the top camera handle at all. The motors would shut down depending on what I was asking it to do, so the less weight the better.
I’d be more worried about batteries, all but one of my ronin 1 batteries got bad and it was nearly impossible to find new replacements

I second Chris's comment on finding parts for older tech.
These old gimbals tend to fizz out as far as replacement parts.
