Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

Do we have any word on when the next gen DJI Phantom Pro drone is making an appearance?

We'd invest in a P4P now, but if the P5P is literally lurking around the corner, it probably wouldn't be the best decision.

I guess the dji phantom 5 will be announced in September. Released end November.

But once the 5 comes out, you should probably wait for the 6 or your 5 will be obsolete.

Cycle time is a little longer on the inspires.

Inspire 2 is basically a no compromise entry level cinematography drone...

The color and image quality are fantastic coming out of the x5S camera.

To be fully kitted you're looking at around $9500 US, but hey it's pretty incredible.

But like Frank says... maybe look for a lightly used P4P ? The HEVC encoding is pretty good.

Seriously considering the Inspire 2 now. It makes more sense.

Like you said, the Inspires depreciate slower, and there's no arguing about the image that comes out of the X5S.

Looking at some source files from the P4P, it looks too "muddy", and those colours just aren't quite there.

ProRes FTW.

They just released the all black version on the Phantom 4 Pro meaning it's almost EOL.

If using drone for web based videos, I'd say the P4 is fine. But if you want to cut this into movies, I feel like the X5 camera is more appropriate and will cut better with the high end cinema cameras. Of course, nothing will beat flying a RED, Alexa or other high end cinema cameras but the expense and the need to have top notch operators is not in every projects budget so that's where these Phantoms and Inspires with X5 come in.
