correct frame size when importing into Avid

OK, I just can't seem to get this figured out...

when I import my media into Avid via the ALE files, they always come in very small with big black borders to fill out the proper frame size. it seems that messing with the current setting dialog box can get it closer but apparently I am missing something because I can't seem to get it right.

I've found tons of info on the MetaCheater route to get the proxies QTs or newly generated QTs into Avid but nothing on getting these frame sizes right!

Michael, I'm trying this again. Got sidetracked way back when... unless you choose one of the "Maintain" options on import the video size is like a postage stamp. Not sure how this is supposed to work.....

if you have compressor try making your file with compressor in your DNx or SD flavor of choice. it will import in RT after that and you dont have to tie up you AVID importing and Xcoding at the same time. we've been doing it that way for a few months and it rules. just make sure you set your audio output setting to 24bit!

Jason, what exactly are your SD settings from Compressor? I tried a couple of different SD settings to get footage into Avid for an offline but the timecode didn't seems to come in properly.....

Footage looks really different with compressor, specially at the DNxHD codec. gamma is not correct and the encoding has also not the same quality, as you import directly.
