Converting R3D files for older Mac

Hi,
I'd appreciate any help with this.
I heard that I could use an Intel Mac (borrowed from a friend) with REDCINE to convert files that I could use on my Mac G5 Dual 2 that has FCP 6.05.
Is this true?
If so, what is the basic procedure for this and what would be the best codec to use.

You could use FCS or red rushes to create prores conversions of the files, which should run on your G5

I'd try to use DVCPROHD if you are on a G5, some of my clients have had issues running Pro res files on thier G5. good luck.:conehead:
