I've had a bit of a love/hate relationship with RED since around the time the RED One shipped. I loved the cameras but could not really afford one. When Scarlet was first announced, I started saving up for one. After endless delays of Scarlet, I had about $10k saved and eventually ended up with a used Viper. Incredible camera, the Viper.
I shot a couple of features, tv shows, music videos, corporate spots, etc with the Viper. Always impressive quality of picture. It's also ~4k capture, 1080p output.
After even more Scarlet delays, I wound up getting a Sony F3. I'm about 6 months into a documentary being shot on a few F3s now. The f3 has worked a lot of days since I got it. It's almost paid for itself.
The endless Scarlet delays and frustration of waiting for Scarlet was the reason for my prediction. I predicted RED would never deliver a Scarlet for under $10k. Well look here now. They have. They've proved me wrong and I can't wait to get my scarlet.
