I recently got ahold of a killer Red One M Deal that came with almost every bracket and handgrip RED made for it as well as the 18-50 lens in open box condition and 36hrs on the camera. One thing I noticed is the CF Module board was never installed on my camera and my camera came with one 640gb red drive. My question is, if I remember correctly the original red one not having a CF module board installed was normal as you had to purchase it separately correct? It didn't just automatically come with the body pre installed.

Just wanted to double check

The CF module was installed standard on the original RED One.
Not sure if this was a very early serial number (below 30 or so) where things might have been different but I'm pretty sure all of the public release of the R1 included the CF.

I don't think the hard drive module option was available until several months after the initial RED One release.

Huh that's odd because it's very apparent to me that this Red One M I have has never seen a CF module board. The ribbon cables are neatly put away and have never been disturbed. My cameras serial is in the 6000s last I looked

Yeah I swear I remember back then before they started shipping the red one as the MX, the board that sits inside the CF plate on the side was an additional $500 and you had to choose it.

There were a few different media options from RED ONE, ranging from CFast cards to the RED DRIVE and eventually even REDMAG 1.8" media. There were specific side modules for the CFast and 1.8" media options.

I'm well aware of all the options, I just wanted someone to confirm my memories of having to buy the CF module as a separate piece.. that in 2007/2008 the $17,500 price tag didn't include a CF module installed out the gate.
