cant get redcine to work

Just built a new comp on a pc with a intel core 920 and running vista 64 with an ATI radeon 4890 card and 12 gigs of DDR3. The first thing I tried to load on the comp is redcine v20, and it loaded fine, but when I open it, the program loads, but is unresponsive. I tried reloading it to no avail, and tried v3.1.8 and it crashed the moment I tried to open it. When I get it to open, my mouse sometimes works, but it's about two inches below what it's highlighting, but still nothing works even when I click the mouse,I can't close the program or anything. Any ideas, or is there something I may have done wrong? Thanks in advance.

Ok, got it to work now. Heres what it was, in case any one has a similar problem. The monitor I had it installed on was running 1600 x 900 resolution, and my other monitor was at a higher resolution at 1280 x 1024, so I guess redcine likes being installed in the higher resolution monitor. when I made that my monitor 1 and reloaded it, everything seems to be working. Hope this might help someone.

Doh! guess I spoke too soon, now any time I try to change a setting it crashes. I can load files in, but as soon as their loaded it crashes. Any suggestions?

Well, here I go answering myself again...
I figured out what my problem was, and in the hopes of helping others that might have similar problems, I'm gonna share what I found. My problem was with the drivers that came with my radeon card. Redcine didn't like them. After uninstalling everything ati, Redcine works now. It's a shame because I imagine that without the drivers the card will not work as well, but the important thing is that it's working for now.

Any ideas what the disadvantages of not running a cards drivers are?
