It includes a modified 7D since many PL lenses are too wide/deep to fit inside the EF mount and also not hit the mirror.

There is another adapter that allows some PL lenses to work. It is more likely to work on APS-C cameras because of the smaller mirror.

the 24-290 , 25-250, 17-102 Angie use neutral mount system. I made Canon adapters for them for about $350. it's a more straight forward than PL but also more limited. As long as you want to use zooms only that should work..

So would my 10mm zeiss t2.1 PL mount work with one of those canon adapters?

edit: Just read that the depth on the other mount is 7mm but most lenses are 12-14. I'll have to check my 10mm

Neutral mount system for angenieux zooms works only for the zooms mentioned above and some more but not 17-80, 15-40, etc. Those have fixed PL mount..pretty much -17-80 has different neutral mount.

Would be nice to try out Primos, etc, other PL lenses on the 7D... but yes this is a big investment, great for rental houses but perhaps not for the common man.

On a related note, in the new American Cinematographer, Shane Hurlbut talks about using panavision primos and gaining 1 1/2 stops on the darks AND brights. That's pretty interesting, I'd love to see it myself..

$4,000 sounds like a good deal to me. How much did Pawel have to pay to have his 50D gutted for a PL adapter?

$4000 from The Syndicate includes the 7D camera. If you value that at $1700, then it's only $2300. But boy does that work look pretty rough.

Hahaha. Did you see what happened to Pawel's 50D? It looked like they turned a blind, rabid beaver loose on it with his teeth to gnaw out the insides...

Cooke S4's and Master Primes. Not for resolution, though. I am itching to drop some money on it but have been warned to wait before I make that investment.

ARGGG.

If anyone is looking to try one of these out, It's available for rent here in Los Angeles at a very reasonable $40/hour. Minimum 8 hour rental. That includes a tech!

Give me a call at Three Two Three 445.0999 or send me an email at info@dankanes.com.

Yes, the Syndicate work is crude looking at best, but it definitely works as mine has gone out on several jobs and everyone is quite happy.

Working with HotRod Cameras on getting these built in the USA, to the standards we motion picture professionals desire.

But if you need to use it right now, please get in touch!

Just curious, why would you do that to your 7D when Scarlet's aren't far off and 4K can give you a system, well maybe a bit more but still! 4K just to get the mount turned to PL seems a bit much...

Because this system has an application now, and there is work to be shot with it.

Why wait when I can shoot today?

2/3" scarlet won't be for sale until summer.
S35 scarlet I'm betting will be ready by winter.

This isn't a knock on red, just being practical.

I'm hoping to make my money back on this and then invest in a scarlet system when it's out.

PV to Canon EOS mount is very easy.
It's a simple adaptor.

These adaptors have existed for at least 15 years e.g. there was one in the Kodak / Panavision PreView system.

It's PL to Canon EOS that is difficult because of the flange depth.
