I picked up the gdu vmount battery and tilta vmount plate to shoot longer times but I don't have a vmount charger or dtap cable. Can I charge the battery with with the komodo? I know the Komodo will charge the canon bp batteries but i'm not sure about the gdu battery. Has anyone tired or is this a bad idea?

I don't think so, also it's a rather bad idea overall - charge a 400$ battery with a 6000$ camera. You can buy a cheaper "travel" charger for your v-mount, it's the most comfortable solution to pair with Komodo in my opinion. It will cost you anywhere from 50$ to 300$ depending on a brand.

Also, don't really lean on those bright brand name batteries - original Red bricks sucked hard. Everyone in Eastern Europe usually use SWIT when it comes to V-Mount batts. Also you can look for Anton Bauer (AB mount), Blueshape, Paglink, IDX.
