Buying a new Mac Pro......What is the minimum I can get buy with, to start editing Red footage ?
Ram- 2 gigs 4 gigs?
Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon or Two 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon?
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB?
Where would you spend your money? Looking to spend little as possible and still be realistic.
Looking for real help here thx.

Go to apple online store, in the search box. Type refurbished go to the link. you get a few hundred off the price and get the same warranty. Refurb's get QA'ed 3 times before they go out. I'm typing this on a refurb, has been a solid machine for 2 years.

Get ram from a company called RAMJET.COM it's a solid company you will not be disappointed.

Here is one Darwin D's New Mac

Does FCP and Premiere come with all the necessary codecs to edit Red footage or do they need to be purchased or downloaded separately? This is my first post. Sorry if this is a basic question.

Thanks

adobeone ,

Wow never thought of refurbished that's a good idea to save some cash!

I am not sure how good the price on Refurb product(not doubting the quality of product)
for example Refurbished iMac 20-inch 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SuperDrive is $1099(they say original prices is $1499, but you can get new iMac with more power for $ 1199. now you do the math.
It looks all these refurbs are little older models and the newer models price is reduced.

I got ram from this company, "1 800 4 Memory" they are great. Great price and service.
So much so...my Ram died after about three years, shot an e-mail to them, sent back a RMA number, mailed them the bad ram, and boom...it was at my door step three days later - brand new.

Enjoy.
