  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bought this RODE Mic to use with Scarlet but …

It's also only a mono-input on DSMC1; pretty sure the sleeve ring of the 3.5mm jack is used to carry phantom power. Most of the time a 3.5mm stereo-to-mono adapter will allow a mic to work (presuming it doesn't require phantom power). If you want phantom power or to use balanced mics, you need to get a non-standard 3.5mm-to-XLR adapter (with a hot pin-1), otherwise it won't work either (for powered or unpowered, balanced or unbalanced mics). Basically the reason Wooden Camera's A-Box did so well. At $100 it's the easiet/bulletproof solution.

It's actually bizarre that RED thought the design was a good idea... Even the mini-XLRs of R1 (that everyone complained about) were brilliant compared to the DSMC1s wonkzilla configuration... but I digress.

I agree this is crazy ! ..thank you so much for your clarification !

CAN Anybody PLEASE recommend “Economic” solutions for Audio in a Scarlet ? I only need scratch audio …nothing quality and a small factor mic ..(the smallest the better) , not a huge tube

Thanks!
