Had a great time today doing some portfolio shots for a friend. I normally shoot this sort of thing on my 7d of 5d but I figured, Hell, Why not go RED all day everyday! First time taking stills with the Scarlet. I must say as a still camera it is pretty damn cool! (I bet it would be even more so if I had a side handle!) I am definitely not a still guy, as 90% of my work is video. But this was pretty fun, it was basically a video shoot. Most of the time I had the camera on a tripod, but occasionally I took it off and held it sideways for portraits.

I was a bit worried if my 24-70 would be sharp enough. I'm pretty pleased with the results. I found I had optimal sharpness at around 4ft distance to subject and around 60mm for the mediums/CUs. I was flaoting between 35mm and 50mm for the wides. I shot at an f4 or 4.5, 120th shutter when on sticks, 144 when hand held (I'm pretty paranoid with motion blur, I would have hiked it way up if I had the light)

Did a quick grade in RCX -> Snapshot Tiff -> Photoshop for some quick touch ups.

Wow! Looks amazing! Thanks for sharing. I like to have the shutter as fast as I can get it most of the time when I shoot stills too.
