I got the package with the Canon mount. I would also be able to offer the possibility to rent the camera to people who have PL lenses, what would be a good converter for PL to Canon mount?

(Also, I have an Angenieux 25-250 with an Arri mount. What should converter would make it work on the Canon mount?)

a heavy PL zoom will cause stress to your aluminium eos mount and possibly wreck it

Seriously ... get the Titanium PL mount.

Yes, I'm sure it seems expensive ... but I'm not renting a camera with PL lenses because I want to be cheap.

I mean ... the Angie 24-290 probably would wreck your EOS mount, and so would the Canon 30-300, if you used them without lens supports.

Of course both those beasts would also wreck the Titanium PL mount too!

Now, the Red 18-85 you can mount in the Ti PL mount without support ... but not in a PL to EF adapter. Ditto for the Angeniuex 17-80

That's not why I wouldn't waste my time renting a Scarlet with a PL to EF adapter and an EF mount for use with PL lenses.

There are just too many lenses that don't quite fit in the PL to EF mount adapter. I'm not going to waste my time dealing with a rental camera, to get lenses from some third place, and then have to figure out if they work.

F that.

I'll just rent from the rental house that can give me a PL mount on my camera. That seems so much easier. It will only cost $20-$50 for me to find one ... but you lost a Scarlet rental. While I am at it, I'll also rent from someone who has the lenses I want in stock too.

Rental is NOT an easy business. You have to be in it for real, and that means having the gear people want to rent.

If you are at all serious about renting to people who want to use PL lenses ... get Red's PL mount.

If you think you are going to rent a lot to PL users ... get some PL lenses too. Seriously ... I'll pass over a rental house that can't offer me a whole package in a heart beat. It makes my prep days so much harder and longer to deal with that mess.

I have one of these, which I assume would work. Works with some, but not all PL lenses. Optitek makes it.

I looked up the Optitek site, but couldn't see the adapter, does it have a name I can use to search for it? Also, I saw in your webpage David that it supports the 25-250 Angenieux, do you think it would wreck the Aluminium mount Red is offering like Alexander suggested?

Alexander is right, with an adapter, you will need lens support for a heavy zoom, front and rear. I assume the TI EF mount is for EF mount cine primes like the CP.2 and new Canons. Harder material, smaller tolerance, more stable, no play from FF pulls and focus from tape measure vs through the lens.

If shooting with stills glass, through the lens focus, I would be just fine with AL.

Just as a ref here is how I supported the PL adapter on a 7D.

Re-reading this thread... Buy the proper mounts from Red. I have all this adapter shit for my own use, on jobs where I'm the DP. I don't rent this gear to other productions. Best case your saving $1000 but risking a customer forcing a PL lens into an adapter or worse.
