Assigning Camera Letters For 3D Jobs

Hi all,

I was hoping to get some insight as to what some people are doing for naming their 3D cameras in terms of an assigned letter. As an example here are a few options:

Option #1:
Rig 01
A Cam (Starts at A001)
B Cam (Starts at B001)

Rig 02
C Cam (Starts at C001)
D Cam (Starts at D001)

------------

Option #2:
Rig 01
A Cam (Starts at A001, but random characters may prevent duplicate names?)
A Cam (Starts at A001, but random characters may prevent duplicate names?)

Rig 02
B Cam (Starts at B001, but random characters may prevent duplicate names?)
B Cam (Starts at B001, but random characters may prevent duplicate names?)

Option #3:
Rig 01
A Cam (Starts at A001)
B Cam (Starts at B001)

Rig 02
A Cam (Starts at A501)
B Cam (Starts at B501)

With both the RED ONE and the EPIC you can set up a camera to be A Cam Left and A Cam Right. Left will have files that read A00X_L00X and right will have A00X_R00X as opposed to the standard A00X_C00X. If you configure things that way, you're pretty much treating one Rig as a single "Camera".

I want to add that you can emulate this with other cameras if need be. You can often set a custom file naming convention.

A_L***** is A Cam Left
A_R***** is A Cam Right, and so on.

You can come up with a wide variety of variations on systems that allow custom file names.

I would check with whom ever is finishing... some systems are pretty specfic on nameing convertions when it come to automagicly linking eyes together, a simple thing to sort now, can be a huge nasty deal later... i have the been there / done that t-shirt already, would not want a second one.
