Hi...

I'm having an issue where artifacts appear in my image once I hit the Go button to begin exporting. I'm exporting 16bit Tiff Sequences to be used for compositing. I've tried a variety of color spaces and gamma settings... some combinations decrease the amount of artifacts but nothing eliminates it. I'd prefer to be able to export REC709 with no artifacting.

The image looks fine as I'm working with it in RedCine, but once I hit Go! the artifacts appear. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here is a sample of the artifacting:

Try exporting half debayer instead of Full.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

If I take it down to draft quality the artifacts are gone. Unfortunately at Standard or Full they return. Draft quality isn't enough for the use of this clip.

I hope I'm changing the right setting?!

Do not use Rec709 as your camera 'colorspace'. Use CameraRGB or Redspace. If that doesn't fix it, try lowering saturation a tad.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'm still having some artifacting, but it is significantly improved. I think I just need some more time in this app to figure out all all it's intricacies.

I'm going to be surfing the board a bit more before I ask any of the other questions I have.

cheers,

john

I am having this same problem exporting 4k quicktimes out of REDCine, i have done tests on many of the export settings. I have not tried all of the filters yet (lancsoz, quadratic, etc)

I'd also like more information on NOT using Rec709 for camera colorspace, that is getting the most accurate result on my screen ... from what I'm looking at.

anyway, one Question at a time I guess, solution for that artifacting problem?

I just exported a TIFF sequence grab and got no "halo" or artifacts whatever those little groups of dots are.
Looking into changing my workflow to incorporate this new export. It is adding a whole new step I think.
Grade in RedCine, export as 4k TIFF sequence, convert TIFF's to quicktime ProRes movies, replace footage in my FCP timeline. ?

and now i'v given up and moved back to a RedAlert! workflow. I was favoring RedCine at first, so lemme know if this gets patched
