I read with excitement the customers receiving the Scarlet, as I wait for mine.

Simple question: Are they arriving in a shoot-able condition ? I ordered a 'kit' , what are the chances I can unbox and take pictures with my kit when it arrives ?
You know, like when I order a pro SLR, I unbox, charge for a couple of hours, shoot ....

If you got a package, you should be ready to shoot but what did you get exactly?

From the images I have seen from those who have received their packages, it looks like they often miss some crucial bits like the dscm side-handle (battery and control) or even the LCD.

if you got a kit, you are good to go as long as you have a lens.

As far as i know, (what my rep told me) the dsmc side handle and touchscreen lcd are on back order and there is no guarantee that youll receive either with your scarlet. they said they try to make sure that the scarlet at least goes out with an LCD. thats all i know. so its possible you could get a scarlet and not be able to shoot with it sadly.

If you get the LCD and not the side-handle, get the adaptor cable for the old RED batterycradle, the batterycradle and find yourself some v-mount battery.

But you need either side-handle, touchscreen or redmote to control the camera. Without either, you are a bit out of options...

It sounds like if you are going with REDVolts/Sidehandle you need to run off of AC power for a month or two. That's part of the reason why I accelerated my purchase schedule and picked up a VF IDX plate just in case my scarlet ships before I get my sidehandle.

I ordered two Canon AL mount kits. I'd be happy is they ship enough to get one of them shooting at first, then wait for the rest of the parts.
Makes me wish Foxcon was still in the picture, for at least side handles and LCD units, you know, the easy stuff. Let Irvine make the body ;)
