  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

any scarlet user considered buying red one mx body to combine?

I'm still thinking about it, but i need too much additional stuff to get it working, or lets say i have too much stuff for my Scarlet that doesn't work with a One. The money i would need to get the One running is better be saved for a upgrade to EPIC or a second Scarlet.

To reduce parts you would need a Scarlet-Brain with Nikon or PL-mount (and a Nikon mount for the One), you should also get a EVF or nontouch-screen, because the touchscreens don't work on a One. Powering both cameras would be done via REDBRICKs and plates, not REDVOLTs. REDMAGs work on both.

So you would have accessories that you can easily move from one camera to the other, but does that make so much sense? Don't you want to have both cams usable at the same time?

It's still really tempting to get one of those babys. Hehe.

Yes, I bought one. Maybe it goes back to my first (negative) experiences with the beta Red One, but I really like the security of a backup RED body and also having one as a "B" or even "A" camera.
Plus, the R1 MX affords me 4.5K, and more frame rate options at higher resolutions, and balanced audio inputs. And the ability to use PL lenses without having to purchase the TI PL for Scarlet. I am spending about $6K for my BT R1 MX plus various options. Yes, I can use that for the Dragon sensor upgrade in 6 months or more, but this option is for now, and I'll still have it as a B body for the future. It's quite a deal any way you cut it.

The only caveat is that if you don't already have V mount batteries, or a 19mm rod system, you'll have to spend cash for that which may drive up your costs beyond $6K.
